A financial model can show performance and valuation, but it does not capture every risk that matters before an investment. An investment team also needs to understand reputation, market signals and developments around a potential investee, then decide which findings deserve deeper investigation.
Touchstone wanted a more systematic way to bring those alternative signals into due diligence without treating a machine-generated score as a substitute for investment judgement.
The INVESmarT approach
INVESmarT was developed in an earlier consulting and intellectual-property portfolio and licensed to Touchstone Capital. It used media and large-scale data to profile investee risks, adding an AI-supported lens to due diligence.
Its role was to give analysts a broader evidence base and point them towards questions to test. Human reviewers still needed to check sources, interpret the context and bring findings to the investment committee.
What changed
The licence put an alternative risk-analysis capability into Touchstone’s hands, giving its team a way to look beyond conventional financial information during deal assessment.
This case is about the diligence method and technology transfer. It does not attribute fund returns or deal outcomes to the platform.
